The settings in this case (after adjusting in the capture options) are as follows:

Interestingly, the VS Pro X4 can capure video from the same Canon HV30 camcorder over the same connection, if the capture format is switched to "DVD", i.e. Please contact Corel Technical Support and send the dump file for analysis. If I click then on the video in the timeline, I get a fatal error with the following message: "The program has encountered an unspecified error and has stopped functioning. I switch then to the Edit tab, the video is inserted to the timeline, but it does again not show any picture. But the thumbnail of the capture video does not show the image of the video it is dark grey in the upper half and white in the lower half. However, when I stop capturing, this time I don't receive an error message. In this case, the camera controls again work properly, and the capture starts normally, with the video in the preview window. Here are the corresponding property settings: Since this did not work, I chose under the capture options "DV type-2" and also change the project property settings to DV type-2. I start capture, which starts the camera properly, and the preview screen shows the captured video footage. The camera controls via VS work properly. Capture options are set to DV type-1 and insert to timeline. The capture format is set to DV (not DVD!). The camcorder is set to forced DV output (even if the material is HD), since I had problems with HD output in the past. When switched to the Capture tab, VS shows as the source correctly "Canon DV Device". The camcorder uses the European PAL format. I use a Canon HV30 camcorder, connected through firewire (IEEE 1394). Today, I have VS Pro X4 running under Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (details see below). It is also worthwile to mention that I never had these issues before when working with VS X3 and Windows XP. I have the following problems that might be related to some codec issues. Meanwhile, I have made almost all upgrades and ended up now with VS Pro X4.
